1981
Cadets were part of the successful Wing
Winners of the Auster Trophy as Best Squadron in the Wing
1982
Flt Lt Edge was presented with a picture of a Spitfire on his retirement from the ATC and received Defence Council letter of Appreciation for services to the ATC
Cpl Nibloe was awarded a flight in a Jet Provost as best cadet at summer camp RAF Linton on Ouse.

Work starts on the new HQ.
The building next door is the Farmers Union HQ. Immediately behind the HQ was an abbatoir. Sometimes smelly and noisy with animals waiting their fate.Forutunately it wasn't operating during the evenings and weekends

1988
Paddle round Rutland Water.
Fg Off Standish, WO Hallam, plus 5 cadets paddled 15 miles round the man made reservoir to raise funds for a new mini bus. £1000 was raised. The journey was more difficult than expected and some very choppy water was met due to the strong winds blasting across the lake.
1990
6 cadets and two staff paddled 21 miles on the Grand Union Canal to raise £400 for the Squadron and Roman Way Day Centre.

We beat the Sea Cadets in a man the mast competition' at Kibworth Fun Day. The Sea Cadets should have had two units but one failed to turn up. They asked if we would make up the opposition and were no doubt a bit upset when we won!

The first band contest at Burton Latimer, 6th out of 6 but little did we know what was to happen some 13 years later. |
We collected 1,950 BP petrol tokens which we were then able to exchange for a new Bell Lyre in a BP sponsored Lifestyle campaign.
The Squadron finished 7th in the Wing Lees Trophy competition, 9th in the Auster Trophy and 9th in the Wing Field Day.
