The Dated items are taken from the Civilian Committee Minutes found in 2011

18 May 1970 - minutes recorded that the Squadron had both a medical and dental officer (presumably not part of the National Health) on the Civilian Committee
Messrs Barwick & Burbidge undertook to explore the revival of the squadron band.

10 Aug 1970 -average parade strength 17 each night. Lease on building was to expire on 25 Dec 1971

26 Apr 1971 - full set of band instruments, including drums purchased for £89.77

28 Jun 1971 - parade nights changed from Monday and Thursday to Monday & Wednesday. Band practices being held each Monday evening

6 Sep 1971 - jet engine sold for net income of £6. MOD would not pay for £440 increase in rent on premises so new temporary accommodation needed urgently

22 Nov 1971 - A charge of 25p per cadet levied on cadets attending Windermere

14 Feb 1972 - parading at the St John's Ambulance HQ after last parade held at 87 St Mary's Road in December 1971. Initially paraded at Fairfield rd school but certain restrictions had impacted on cadet training.

12 June 1972 - New Spooner hut on site and nearing completion. (this was at Riverside Walk aka Bus Depot or the Cattle Market)

24 July 1972 - 5 cadets along with cadets from 1(F) took part in Nijmegen March

15 Nov 1972 - Recorded that band played at Remembrance Day Parade (first record of the new band's public appearance). New hut used for first parade on 18 Oct 1972.

The pig pens in the foreground proved   useful for leadership exercises although the smell could be powerful at times.

1973

A Royal visit to Welland Park in connection with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. HRH Prince Philip talks to CWO Bosworth and Cdt Osbourne about ATC projects

3 Jan 1973 - Squadron band along with 5(F) band to play at Oakham Annual Church parade.
28 Mar 1973 - GVC regularly using the HQ on Mondays (presumably around this time the ATC parade night then moved to Friday)
26 Sep 1973 - Band won £30 prize money at Burton Latimer (the first band contest not as recorded elsewhere on this site)

1974
9 cadets and staff took part in the Val de Marne road march for the second year. This is an 30k march round the suburbs of Paris.
Retained the Coldstream Guards Shield won last year.
22 Feb 1974 - Squadron parading only one night per week and Wing Annual Parade cancelled due to National Emergency and 3 day week brought on by the miners' strike and subsequent fuel shortages.

1975
Winners - Group B Wing Athletics
Winners - 5-a-side Wing Soccer
30 Apr 1975 - CO reported an apprentice hairdresser had attended a parade to tidy up cadets haircuts. An ex gratia payment of £5 made to encourage the person to give her time to the unit (if only we could do this now!)
Sep 1975 - Squadron banner presented and blessed on 21 Sep at Battle of Britain service.
Mr Burbidge reported the Glockenspiel (bell lyre) would be used on 9 November.

1976
3 Jun 1976 -Reported the band would at the Oakham Remembrance Service.
15 Sep 1976 - Squadron bus purchased for £54.

1977
Winners - Youths Wing Cross Country
11 May 1977 - Link Trainer disposed of to Thetford Squadron.

1978
11 Sep 1978 - 5thside drum purchased for band

1979
12 cadets and 4 staff took part in the Diekirch Road March (Luxembourg). The march was over 2 days and consisted of 40k for the snapper cadets and   20k for the younger ones.Flt Lt Sargeant was 'dined out' at the Angel Hotel as he retired form the ATC. Flt Lt Edge takes over as CO
