Technical Training in a wide range of subjects

A wide range of training is given in subjects relating to aviation and  adventure training. It is not all classroom work and we tend to do the work during the winter months when we cannot get outside as much.

The Basic Exam teaches you a little of the background and history of the ATC and RAF, basic radio communications, map reading, expedition training, drill.

After completion of this stage of training you can progress through several stages of 'classifications' progressing to the highest level of Staff Cadet Part 2.

The first stage of this progression is Leading Cadet where you will learn about the aircraft used by the RAF, how and why an aircraft flies and further develop your map reading skills.

Following on from the Leading Cadet comes Senior Cadet.

The next stage is Staff Cadet Part 1 and then Staff cadet Part 2.
Completion of the Staff Part 1 exam also gets you a BTEC in Aviation Studies (equivalent to a GCSE)

We also offer BTECs in Public Services and Music. These are each equivalent to 4 GCSEs and work towards them is included in the normal training programme.

Leadership training and other training useful in day to day life are also included in the things you will learn. This will include first aid and radio communications and projects where you can expand your range of skills.
